Overview
The objective of this course is to examine the theory and practice of organizational development (OD)/change. It will discuss different theoretical approaches to understanding change in organisations and how these approaches can guide the preparation for, and implementation of, organisational change.
It highlights the key activities associated with leading and managing change, and how planned change may be evaluated and institutionalised.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should be over 21 years. A Level 7 qualification or equivalent is required.
What you will Learn
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
- Define Organisation Development (OD) and describe the history and growth of OD.
- Describe and compare five major models of planned change and how planned change can be adopted to fit different contexts within organisations.
- Describe the role of the OD practitioner of OD, internal & external and competencies required to lead organisational change and understand the values and ethics guiding the practice of OD and the issues associated with entering and contracting into an OD process.
- Discuss the philosophy, purpose and importance of diagnosis in organisation development (OD) and explain the role of diagnostic models in OD.
- Describe the methods for data collection and analysis and the primary techniques used.
- Describe what an intervention is and the main different types of intervention and contingencies that affect the success of interventions in relation to the change situation.
- Discuss the issues associated with evaluating OD interventions and the process of institutionalizing/embedding these interventions
Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this micro-credential, you will receive credits as per the European Credit and Transfer System. These credits are recognised by the awarding institution as credits aligned to learning completed at undergraduate level 8.
