Biography

Dr Pedram Khaneh Masjedi is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Galway, since 2024. He holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, with his doctoral research focused on the aeroelastic analysis of helicopter rotor blades. His expertise encompasses aero/hydro-elastic analysis, advanced composite structures, and computational mechanics.

Prior to joining the University of Galway, Dr Masjedi served as an Assistant Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at South East Technological University (SETU), Carlow, from 2021 to 2023. He also held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the Bernal Institute, University of Limerick, from 2018 to 2021, contributing to research in aeroelasticity and variable stiffness composites.

Dr Masjedi's research interests lie in developing advanced numerical tools for the aero/hydro-elastic analysis of onshore and offshore wind turbines, as well as composite structures. He is particularly interested in computational mechanics, especially meshless methods and Isogeometric Analysis (IGA). He has published numerous research papers in reputable journals and presented his work at international conferences. He is an active peer reviewer for several esteemed journals, contributing to the advancement of research in his field.

Dr Masjedi has successfully secured research funding through various grants such as IRC and SEAI, contributing to projects exploring wind turbines technology. Dr Masjedi's collaborative spirit extends beyond academia, with industry engagements on wind turbine technology.
