Biography

Eileen Lauster is an External Tutor for the MA in Social Work Programme in the School of Political Science & Sociology at the University of Galway. She was the Research Assistant Fellow for the Responding to Child to Parent Violence (RCPV) Project (2013-2015) in Ireland and with Dr. Declan Coogan co-wrote the Non Violent Resistance (NVR) Handbook for Practitioners: Responding to Child to Parent Violence in Practice in addition to published articles on the topic.

Eileen is a Marie Sk¿odowska-Curie Fellow PhD Student at Durham University, England, as part of the Applying Sustainability Transition Research in Social Work Tackling Major Societal Challenge of Social Inclusion (ASTRA) Project. Her research was conducted with a group of young people in Northeast England, exploring challenges to increasing bike use and sustainability.

She was awarded a Master in Social Work, majoring in Administration and Community Organisation, from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, before practising as a social worker in child protection and welfare in the United States and adult mental health services in Ireland. She is a member of the Irish Association of Social Workers (IASW) and CORU registered. She is a founding member of NVR Ireland National Committee, established to promote and develop NVR research, practice and training in Ireland.
