Centre for Applied Linguistics and Multilingualism (CALM) | Ionad um Theangeolaíocht Fheidhmeach agus Ilteangachas (CALM)
The Centre for Applied Linguistics and Multilingualism (CALM) is an interdisciplinary research centre within the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS) at the University of Galway. CALM brings together researchers working across different areas of linguistics and related disciplines to advance research on language, multilingualism and communication.
CALM's members are based across Schools in three of the University's Colleges, bringing together expertise from the humanities, social sciences, health sciences, and science and engineering. This interdisciplinary and cross-School community enables collaboration across diverse perspectives and methodological approaches to language and multilingualism. CALM also coordinates and contributes to teaching on the MSc in Applied Multilingualism, and supports research, knowledge exchange and engagement with academic, professional, community and policy contexts.
