Do I sign up for the university skills passport?   

You can get involved in the USP through completion of certain activities for which you receive a digital badge. As you earn digital badges you begin to build your USP document. You can find a full list of badgeable extra-curriculars on the University Skills Passport website –  just filter for badged.

Can anyone join these activities? 

You must be a registered student of the University of Galway to join these activities. 

What are the benefits?

The USP is all about recognising, articulating and rewarding skill development. Employers are seeking graduates who have a rich and well rounded skills profile. Transferable skills like teamwork, leadership, communication and empathy are highly prized and enable you to stand out. The USP gives you a mechanism to evidence and develop these skills, and a formal credential from the university to verify this.

How do I log into my USP Account? 

You can log into your USP account using your university sign on credentials.  Go to our University Skills Passport log in.

I am having difficulties logging in, what do I do? 

Contact usp@universityofgalway.ie for assistance. Please include your student ID number in all correspondence. 

My badge is not showing in my USP account? 

This may be that the activity owner has not yet sent us the list of badges to be issued for the current academic year or you may not have fully completed the requirements for that badge. Please check with the activity owner. 

Why can I not download my badge from my USP account? 

Please contact usp@universityofgalway.ie if you are experiencing any difficulties in downloading your badge. Please include your student ID number in all correspondence. 

Why are only some of the skills highlighted on the dashboard of my USP account? 

The skills highlighted in maroon are the skills that you have already developed  The skills in white, that are not highlighted, are those you have yet to achieve.   

Why did I get an email to say my badge was revoked? 

We will revoke a badge if: 

  • There is an error/change to a badge e.g. a spelling error or a change in the badge criteria. If you are due to get a new one, we will then reissue same.   
  • It you received an incorrect badge e.g. CEIM Leader but it should have been CEIM Collaborator.  We will revoke the incorrect badge and issue the correct one to you. 
  • If your name was on the badge list in error, in that, you did not complete all the required criteria for the badge,

How do I get a curricular badge for my module?

Check your module outlines or ask your lecturer to see if you can achieve a badge by doing the relevant module.

How do I opt-out of receiving emails about the USP? 

Please email  usp@universityofgalway.ie listing your ID number, your full name and course and that you want to opt out of receiving emails from USP.
