Workshops and Programmes
Student Success Coaching Workshops
The Student Success Coaching team designs and delivers a range of curricular and extra-curricular workshop and programmess, drawing on Stanford University’s Design Your Life (DYL).
Each semester we launch a suite of extra-curricular workshops covering topics such recognising your strengths, goal setting, mapping your energy etc. Follow us on Instagram to keep up to date with upcoming workshops and opportunities @SSC_UniOfGalway
Design Your Life Transdisciplinary Module
Design Your Life draws on principles of design thinking, where students are encouraged to try ideas out, garner the right support and then learn from both success and challenges. Design Your Life is offered as a 5 ECTS credit transdisciplinary module for second and third year students from the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies and the College of Science and Engineering. The module is available as an elective in both semesters.

In this 4 session programme, students learn skills and tools for success., learn more about their strengths and take action to achieve their goals. Includes 1:1 coaching. On successful completion, participants earn a digital badge.
Making Decisions for your future – Decide, Accept, Engage
This workshop helps students identify what they want from their university experience and understand how to make choices that are right for them.
Mapping your Energy – How to Design more Energy into your Life
This workshop helps students recognise their energy levels over a typical day or week and identify strategies to create more balance and to make the most of their time.
Understand your Strengths and make them work for you

Design Your University Journey
In this workshop, students explore what university means for them and what they want to get out of their time at NUI Galway. It includes discussion with fellow students and a chance to recognise what personal success means.
Odyssey Planning
In this workshop, students imagine the narrative of 3 possible futures (Odyssey plans) that might unfold over 3 years, considering elements of work, relationships, health and play. Exploring these 3 radically different ‘stories’ allow students to embrace possible opportunities and identify actions to move towards achieving their goals and aspirations.
