Athena Swan
Our Commitment
The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBCS) was established in 2022 as part of the restructuring process within the College of Science and Engineering. As part of this restructuring the School has successfully applied for an Athena Swan Bronze award transfer to capitalise on our previous awards (School of Chemistry and old School of Natural Sciences). This was one of the School’s key objectives, as the advancement of gender equality will be embedded into everything we do.
SBCS is committed to upholding the ten key principles of the Athena SWAN Charter. By being part of Athena SWAN, we commit to this progressive charter; adopting these principles within their policies, practices, action plans and culture. Our aim within the School is to create an environment in which all staff and students succeed and thrive, feel supported, valued, and included.
Our Award transfer application and action plan is available here for review : SBCS Athena Swan Award Transfer Application
