The Centre for Law, Religion and Society, together with the Irish Centre for Human Rights and the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, was pleased to co-host the Galway launch of Sally Hayden’s new book, This is Also a Love Story.

Hayden, an award-winning journalist and author, was in conversation with Professor Pat Crowley. The event also marked the launch of the Literature and Human Rights seminar series, a new collaboration bringing together literary, legal and human rights perspectives at the University of Galway.

In This is Also a Love Story, Hayden explores love, care and human connection in contexts of war, displacement, crisis and inequality. The conversation reflected on how crisis might be understood differently when viewed through the relationships, commitments and acts of care that sustain people through it.

The event included a thoughtful discussion and audience Q&A, with Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop present on the evening with copies of the book available to purchase.
