- Health Research Charities Reflect On Their Experiences of PPI - Dr. Avril Kennan, CEO of Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI) has a conversation with five research charities about their experiences of PPI, progression in their work and challenges they've faced.
- Tailoring PPI Approaches - Children & Young People: Lessons Learned - Jenny Preston, Senior Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Manager in the University of Liverpool discusses the lessons she has learnt throughout her research giving many tips to fellow researchers on involving children and young people in research.
- PPI in PhD's - In this session, a panel of PhD candidates and PPI contributors will present their work and discuss the role of PPI in student research. Some of the PPI panels will also be discussing the work from their perspective. Some topics discussed are; research on Spinal Cord repair, adapting PPI to Pre-clinical research, the Financial Costs of Multimorbidity, challenges and benefits of involvement, LGBTI+ youth wellbeing, bringing their experience to the table.
- PPI Contributor Panel: My Voice Shaping Research - In this session PPI contributors talk about their journey into Public and Patient Involvement, the importance of contribution and being heard within research, how networking between people with various experiences can be so helpful, the various ways of being, and much more.
- Embedding PPI In Research Ethics Structures - Dr Edel Tierney (National Research Officer, TUSLA) and Joe Murphy (PPI Contributor, TUSLA REC Board) talk about Tusla’s efforts to keep child and youth voices at the core of our work programme.
- Involving Ethnic Minorities In Research - Anna Papyan, graduate of sociology from Yerevan State University, Armenia, gives lots of guidance on how to involve ethnic minorities in our research. This includes; how to reach out to ethnic minorities, how to help them feel comfortable, and the importance of contacting gatekeepers to get a sense of the community.

- Development of an ‘Aphasia Accessible Patient Research Experience Survey’ through Co-Production - Listen to Dr. Ciara Shiggins and Co-researcher Ian Duffy presenting the ‘Development of an ‘Aphasia-Accessible Patient Research Experience Survey’ through coproduction with multiple stakeholders’.
- Working with Consumers and Other Stakeholders on the Danish Island of Bornholm - Dr. Nana Folmann Hempler and Dr. Sine Gronborg Knusden talk about co-designing human navigation to improve care co-ordination for people with multimorbidity.
- Involving Families in the Design of Cancer Services from Belfast to Hanoi - Dr. Olinda Santin discusses her experiences of involving families in the design of cancer services. Seeing all of these perspectives can really help in research.
- PPI in PhD Research - BRCA Alterations in the Irish Health Care System - Nikolett Warner talks about Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in her research on BRCA Alterations in the Irish Health Care System.
- Our Involvement with the My Comrade Plus Study - Hearing about the involvement of four people who live with multiple chronic conditions and therefore take many medications. They talk about their involvement in a cross-border research study.
- Towards Excellence in Research in Ireland the PPI Ignite Network Professor - Sean Dinneen, the PPI Ignite Network Lead tells us all about research in Ireland and how the PPI Ignite Network plan to make an impact. He closes the 2021 PPI Conference showing everyone how they can get involved in PPI.

- Dr. Helen Rochford-Brennan - 'Can You Hear Me, Are You Listening?' - Dr Helen Rochford Brennan, advocate and person living with dementia spoke about her journey in community activism, PPI and national and international research. "diversity is being invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance”
- Lanie Bruce, Mairéad Fennessy and Barbara Riddell - HSE Patient Narrative Project - Lanie, Mairéad and Barbara spoke about the HSE Patient Narrative Project 'Your Voice Matters'. Lanie also discussed the Wexford COPD peer support group and her role as chair.
- Paul Ryan- 'My Path to PPI' - Paul Ryan from the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance spoke about his path to PPI at the conference. Paul spoke about the reality of life with a premature baby and the importance of being a voice for patients who can't speak for themselves.
- Ciara Duffy and Cameron Keighron in Conversation with Dr. Bláthín Casey - Ciara and Cameron spoke with Dr Bláthín Casey the D1 Now programme manager about their five year PPI journey with the Young Adult Panel who aim to improve health outcomes among young adults with Type 1 diabetes in Ireland.
- Lightning Talks with Feedback - In this session, researchers and a PPI contributor outline their involvement approaches and methodologies, and a panel of experienced PPI researchers/PPI contributors give feedback on the approaches.
- Prof. Carolyn Jenkins- Community Engaged Scholars Programme - US and Ireland - Professor Carolyn Jenkins, Medical University of South Carolina, spoke about the Community Engaged Scholars Programme, an initiative now in its 9th year.
- Sharon Conway- Community Engaged Scholars Programme - US and Ireland - Sharon Conway spoke about the Irish Pilot of the Community Engaged Scholars Programme (CES-P) at the PPI in Research Conference. Sharon is the Programme Coordinator for the CES-P at PPI Ignite @ University of Galway
- Prof. Sean Dinneen - Closing comments, Fourth National PPI in Research Conference - Professor Sean Dinneen,the lead of the PPI Ignite @ University of Galway programme, gave the closing comments at the Fourth Annual PPI in Research Conference.
