Individuals Paid on Timesheet
The University routinely engages employees to assist in the delivery of its academic programs. Before engaging any individual, it is crucial for managers to understand the distinctions between employee and 'self-employed' individuals.
When the engagement is determined to be employment, the individual will be treated as a PAYE employee and processed via Payroll.
For detailed information on the recruitment and payment process for different categories of Teaching Support Staff, please refer to the HR website here.
The following categories of work are paid through the timesheet system:
- Teaching Support Staff (TSS) (non-pensionable)
- Exam Correctors (Non-Statutory Staff)
- Occasional work (like Student Ambassador (i.e., open days, orientation), Clinical Research Facility Healthy Volunteers, Clinical Research Facility Healthy Volunteers)
- Guest Lecture/Speaker
- Subject Specialist
- External Examiner
- Quality Programme Reviewers
- Quality Reviewers
Payments for these individuals are processed in alignment with the Monthly Paid Employees' Pay Date on the 3rd last working day of the month except December.
