Documentary Screening:
Sex in a Cold Climate
Documentary screening in conjunction with the NUI Galway Feminist Society, detailing the experiences of several women who spent time in the Magdalene Laundries. Following the screening, there will be a discussion regarding the Magdalene Laundries and what Ireland has done since to address the violations committed.

16 Facts for 16 Days: What you need to know about violence against women now.
Throughout the 16 Days, students from the Gender, Globalisation and Rights MA programme, in conjunction with the NUI Galway Team of the What Works to Prevent Violence: Economic and Social Costs of VAWG project will be releasing ‘facts’ on violence against women drawn from recent research and analysis each day fo the 16 Days of Activism.

The 16 Days Campaign of Activism agaist Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign with participants in over 164 countries and involving more than 3400 organisations. The campaign links November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10th, International Human Rights Day, in order to symbolically connect violence against women and human rights and to emphasize that such violence is a human rights violation.
