Making a Report
Anonymous Report
An anonymous report may be made through Speak Out. Speak Out Is a tool the University uses to capture data to assist in the implementation of educational and policy initiatives and to signpost you to the support services that can help you, should you wish to seek help. The data collected is completely anonymous and you will not be identifiable.
External Report
If you are a victim or witness to a sexual crime or child abuse, you can report this to An Garda Síochána via the following methods:
Call 112/99 in the case of an emergency - an emergency is any incident which requires an immediate Garda response.
Child Sexual Abuse Freephone Complaints of child abuse can be made over the phone and in a confidential manner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to 1800 55 52 22 (Freephone)
Call your local Garda Station or report in person
Details of all Garda stations are available here. You may call to the Garda station in person accompanied by a friend or a support worker from one of the many victim support groups. You can specify you need a meeting in private at the reception.
Contact your local Rape Crisis Centre
Rape crisis centres throughout the country offer advice and support services to victims of rape and sexual assault. You may contact the national 24-hour helpline at 1800 77 88 88.
Report to the University
A report is a formal statement about Sexual Violence and Harassment made to a staff member in the University who has the authority to initiate a formal investigation process. A report initiates formal procedures.
