University of Galway is committed to a zero-tolerance approach to racism and advancing race equality across the University. The Race Equality Framework and Action Plan 2023–2027 drives cultural and organisational change to ensure that white settled Irish and minority ethnic staff and students can work and study together in an environment that values diverse perspectives, enhancing creativity, teaching, research, and the overall experience of our community.

Embedding race equality is the responsibility of all staff and students. Our approach is guided by five pillars—consultation, co-creation and data analysis; implementation; embedding; monitoring; and regular re-evaluation—to ensure continuous improvement.

Implementation of the Race Equality Framework and Action Plan is underway, fully supported by the President and University Management Team, demonstrating our commitment to making diversity a defining strength of University of Galway.
