Leading EDI at University of Galway

Who We Are

Established in 2016, the Office of the Vice-President for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (OVPEDI) works across all Colleges, Schools, and Units to make EDI a lived reality for everyone on campus. We champion fairness, respect, and belonging, and we partner with staff and students to deliver training, events, and policies that embed EDI in everything we do.

Our Vision

Our vision is to make University of Galway one of the most inclusive places in the world to work, study, and conduct research. We believe that the lived experiences, knowledge, and ambitions of our diverse staff and student community are essential to achieving this goal.

Our EDI Programmes and Initiatives

We lead and coordinate key Equality, Diversity and Inclusion programmes that create meaningful change:

Athena Swan – advancing gender equality in higher education.
Race Equality Framework – addressing racial justice and promoting intercultural understanding.
Universal Design – making our campus more accessible and inclusive for all.
Sexual Violence and Harassment Prevention & Response – fostering a culture of respect, safety, and dignity.
