Co-producing Knowledge – Community-engaged Research
Participatory and collaborative approaches to carrying out research are an important aspect of community-university engagement in contemporary higher education in Ireland. Through community-based learning these approaches to research can also be an element of teaching and learning contexts. In practical terms, opportunities for students to use a community-engaged approach to research can be offered through postgraduate dissertations, and occasionally through extended essays at undergraduate level. This session will provide an overview of approaches to community-engaged research and general guidance on the process of implementing this methodology in the teaching and learning context of academic programmes.
