Championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
During the summer, the School was proud to receive its very first Athena SWAN Bronze Award, a distinguished international recognition of our dedication to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Achieving this milestone would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts by our EDI Committee, led by Dr Bernadine Brady and Dr Declan Coogan.
This accolade places us alongside 13 other Schools at University of Galway, contributing to a total of 14 Bronze Awards, two Silver Awards and the renewed institutional Bronze recognition. It reflects our School’s emerging role as a champion of equality in higher education and underscores our collective dedication to meaningful and sustainable cultural change.
Professor Michelle Millar, Head of School, said: “This recognition is a significant milestone for the School of Political Science and Sociology. It reflects the collective commitment of our community to equality, diversity and inclusion and continuous improvement in our practices and culture."
Thank you to everyone involved.
