Bachelor of Corporate Law with Spanish
Overview
Visit the University’s Courses page for information on how to apply, entry requirements, career options and assessment.
Spanish is taught at beginners' and intermediate (post-Leaving Certificate) level to students embarking on the B. Corp. Law degree. This three-year degree programme involves the study of a range of law subjects along with key elements of business. There is also the option to take a modern language in each year of the course. At the end of second year, students may opt to join the B. Corp. Law International programme which involves spending third year at a university in mainland Europe. Students then return to complete their degree programme in Galway, in fourth year.
On completing the first two years of the degree in Galway, students can opt to transfer to Spain for a year, where they are enrolled in one of the universities with which we exchange students on this degree course. There they follow courses in Spanish language and in business and legal studies.
The final year is spent in Galway, where Spanish is studied to degree level in conjunction with courses in B. Corp. Law.
In Spanish, classes are shared with B. Comm. International students throughout the degree course.

Careers
The B. Corp. Law programme aims to prepare students for employment in the legal division of a company or business organisation, or for law-related positions in banking, insurance or other corporations. Graduates may continue their legal education by proceeding directly to the final year of the LLB Programme in NUI Galway. This one-year LLB enables B. Corp. Law graduates to acquire the remaining core law subjects necessary for the entrance examinations of the professional bodies. For graduates of B. Corp. Law with Spanish, the added bonus of the language can facilitate employment in Spanish multinationals in Ireland such as the insurance company Mapfre, and of course in international Irish companies that deal with Spanish and Latin American customers. Spanish also opens up employment possibilities both in Spain and Latin America.
