Book Launch to mark publication of Dr. Mulgrew’s latest monograph
Dr. Róisín Mulgrew’s latest book, Early Release in International Criminal Law, has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing.
To mark the occasion, members of the School of Law, the Crime, Punishment and Rights cluster and the Irish Centre for Human Rights, participants in the 2025 International Criminal Court summer school and others joined Dr. Mulgrew for a book launch.
Professor Shane Darcy, Deputy Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights, introduced the event and the book discussant, Kate Gibson, who spoke to the value and contribution of a book focusing on the back end of international criminal justice process – international punishment and release mechanisms.
Kate Gibson is a leading defence counsel at the International Criminal Court and the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals and former President of the Association of Defence Counsels practicing before the International Courts (ADC-ICT).
Dr. Mulgrew outlined her objective, through the book, to bring greater understanding in relation to the reach and depth of international punishment by highlighting the diverging and evolving systems for granting release in international criminal law.
