Bursar's Office
Welcome to the Office of the Bursar
The Bursar of University of Galway is responsible for the overall Financial Planning and Financial Management of the University and related matters. The Bursar, Sharon Bailey (FCCA, AITI, MSc. Mgmt), is the Chief Financial Advisor to the President, the Governing Authority and its Finance Resource Committee. She is a member of the University Management Team.
Sharon Bailey, was appointed Bursar of the University of Galway in late 2018. She previously held senior management positions in the Educational, Health, Aviation, Publishing and Financial sectors.
She is a board member of the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) since 2013 and was appointed Chair of EARMA in September 2017. Sharon is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA), member of the Irish Taxation Institute (AITI) and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (MSc. Mgmt). She has worked with a large number of organisations including University College Dublin (UCD), Irish Blood Transfusion Service, The Irish Aviation Authority, Agfa Typography Ltd and Irish Life Assurance PLC.
