Cumann Caoga Bliain - 50 Year Reunion 12 October
Cumann Caoga Bliain—50 Year Reunion Saturday, October 12, 2024
On October 12, 2024, the University of Galway welcomed 270 alumni from the classes of 1970 to 1974 for a memorable 50th graduation anniversary celebration.
The day began with a welcome address by Interim President Professor Peter McHugh, who highlighted the university's rich history and the significant contributions of alumni over the years. Following this, graduates participated in guided campus tours, showcasing the remarkable transformations that have occurred since their student days. They also enjoyed a special visit to the Library Archives, where a collection of 1970s memorabilia, including copies of Unity newspaper, was on display.
After the tours, alumni gathered for lunch at Sult Bar, where reminiscing continued over shared stories and laughter. Many traveled from near and far to participate, making the event a special occasion of reconnection and reflection.
