Overview

Enterprise modelling helps organisations to build digital models of processes, data flow, resources and systems. This gives decision makers the information they need to improve performance. This module examines theoretical and computational tools to simulate and improve how an organisation operates.

Entry Requirements

A Level 8 Honours Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline.

What you will Learn

Topics

  • Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
  • Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Ishikawa / Cause & Effect (Fishbone) Diagrams
  • Business Process Modelling
  • Digital Twinning
  • Enterprise Redesign

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify the fundamental concepts, principles and terminology used in Enterprise Modelling and Simulation
  2. Solve complex simulation problems by using simulation software packages (Simul8)
  3. Evaluate the impact of process re-design, re-configuration of factories and automation using simulations and digital twins
  4. Identify risks associated with Enterprise Modelling and Simulation and be capable of presenting coherent and sustained arguments for ranking the risks in order of severity
  5. Generate and a evaluate a digital twin for steps in a real manufacturing process.

Assessments

  • Continuous Assessment (70%)
  • Department-based Assessment (30%)
