Community Engagement
At University of Galway, we believe that the best learning takes place when you apply what you learn in a real world context. That's why many of our courses include work placements or community projects.
Ukraine
As a University community, we are deeply shocked and outraged by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and condemn this unprovoked violence in the strongest possible terms. These actions are an assault on democracy and on the values of freedom, autonomy and respect that we all hold dear.
Supporting Ukraine | Tacaíocht don Úcráin
Ireland’s efforts to provide support to Ukrainian refugees is a complex operation involving many organisations and individuals. Our response at NUI Galway is being coordinated with local, national and international organisations.
We aim to support students, university faculty and staff, and their families to shelter temporarily in Ireland by providing a variety of supports. We also intend to support the rebuilding of the Ukrainian Higher Education sector when possible. If you would like to make a financial contribution to support efforts please click here.
If you would like to make a financial contribution to support the NUI Galway Ukraine Crisis Support Fund, please follow this link to a secure payment.
Our Response
Our immediate focus has been on supporting affected students & staff. We have reviewed our exchange programmes and do not have students in either Ukraine, Russia or Belarus.
