Biopharmaceutical Chemistry is a multidisciplinary subject that combines areas of chemistry and biology. The Biopharmaceutical Chemistry programme has a relatively small intake of students and includes ample opportunity for research within projects in years 2 and 4, and a 20-26 week work placement in Year 3.

Prof Charles Spillane - MSc Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security

The world’s climate is rapidly changing due to global warming, and will continue to do so for the decades and centuries ahead. This poses major challenges for future agriculture and food systems to provide food and other bioresources for the 9.7 billion people that will occupy the planet by 2050.

This programme is aimed at students who want to combine scientific, engineering, technical, social or policy skills so that they are better equipped to understand and make significant contributions regarding the adaptation and mitigation of climate change impacts on global agriculture and food security.

There is growing demand for individuals that have both an in-depth understanding of genetics and the numerical and computer skills required to investigate and interpret genomic data. Dr Olivia McDermott - MSc. Medical Technology Regulatory Affairs

The programme is offered as a two year part-time Level 9 MSc in Medical Technology Regulatory Affairs (90 credits). The programme is delivered online using a combination of distance-learning / e-learning technologies and face to face workshops for an overall blended learning approach.

This programme will equip graduates with essential knowledge and skills to work in a Regulatory Affairs environment within the global Medical Technology industry sector. It has been specifically designed to meet the growing requirements of medical technology companies in filling regulatory and quality assurance roles.

Prof Charlie Spillane - MSc AgriFood Sustainability & Technology

The agri-food sector is Ireland's largest indigenous industry, employing over 150,000 people, and generating an annual output of over €24 billion. Globally, the food and agriculture industry is responsible for feeding the planet and employing 40% of the global workforce. However, agri-food sector in Ireland and globally is facing numerous challenges around land and water use, climate change, sustainability, health, and wellbeing.

Our programme aims to equip students with the advanced skills, knowledge, and expertise needed to tackle these challenges and succeed in technical and production management roles within Agri-food growing industry.
