Achievements & Actions
Achievements
We have embedded the Juno Principles into our working culture in the School of Physics through a wide variety of initiatives and we are proud of our achievements, which include:
- Making unconscious bias training mandatory for all undergraduate laboratory instructors
- Having the statement “applications from female candidates are particularly welcome” in all School of Physics job advertisements since 2012
- Facilitating parental leave for both male and female staff
Actions
We have many short –term and long-term plans for the coming years, to enhance our supportive working environment in the School, and to encourage women at every level in Physics. A small selection of these actions is:
- Develop a plan for proactive marketing of our denominated Physics programme in girls’ schools
- Improve access to career development services (e.g. CV preparation, interview skills, etc) for the postdoctoral research scientists in the School
- Prepare an Athena SWAN Silver application for the School of Physics
We aim to have better representation of female speakers in our School seminar programme
