Making your application Application cycle for academic year 2024-2025 is now open
The applications are made via Postgraduate Application System. Please choose to apply to Adult Learning, CPD, Micro-credentials. You can find a helpful information from our Application Guide. The module names and taught semesters can be found on our Professional Credit Award page.
For modules starting in September 2024 - deadline Monday 15th July 2024
choose Nursing & Midwifery Micro-credentials - September PFC1
For modules starting in January 2025 - deadline extended until 14th November 2024

A non-refundable application fee of €35 is paid online at this stage by credit or debit card.
The application form includes your contact details (please use your official name), PPS number, educational background, employment details. The following support documentation needs to be uploaded after you have submitted the application:
1) Letter of Support from your Director of Nursing or Midwifery or Senior Manager
(Module support letter template).
- Students applying for Clinical Supervision: Supporting Continuing Professional
Development (NU6622) module need a letter from the Director of Nursing (or Senior
Manager) stating that they will be supported during the module, as students will
receive CS and will be required to deliver 6 hours of CS in the practice area
(Clinical Supervision support letter template).
2) Personal Statement (Please outline briefly your reasons for applying for this Professional
Credit Award Module, approximately 200 words.)
3) Proof of Identity (Copy of your passport photo page, driving licence or birth certificate)
4) Proof of Registration with Professional Body (if applicable, otherwise please submit
a document briefly explaining why not applicable)
5) Copy of original transcript of previous studies undertaken (if you have never been a
student at NUI Galway/University of Galway).
Note your application cannot be processed without the supporting documentation.
What happens to my application form after I apply?
Once you apply online your application is assessed in accordance with the module selection criteria. Successful applicants are informed via email. You will need to accept your module place using the online applications portal.
The process of assessing applications and offering places may take between three and four weeks after the closing date and you are advised to regularly check the email address used for correspondence as all course communication will be sent to you at this email address.
Additional registration details and communication from the School of Nursing and Midwifery will be issued to all applicants approximately two weeks before the module commences, informing you of the registration date and Orientation day schedule.
