- Maths from Leaving Cert is desirable or Further Education in Mathematics along with reasonable IT skills

SFD1 Science, Technology and Engineering (Foundation Studies Diploma)
This intensive part-time course is taught at University of Galway for Mature Applicants aged 22 or over interested in applying for entry to full-time Science, Engineering and I.T. courses at either ATU or University of Galway and runs September, two nights per week and all day Saturday (two per month). The duration of the course is 26 weeks. The course includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, IT, Skills for College and Career, Academic Study Skills and Academic Writing. The course is intended for anybody wishing to study Science, Engineering, I.T., or Health Sciences degrees in 2025.
For the online application system, you will need to upload a passport photo and a photocopy of passport/birth cert or marriage cert.
The fee for this programme is €380 and is payable by postal order made out to University of Galway with your name and course clearly written on the back of the PO and is posted to Mature Students Officer, Áras Uí Chathail, University of Galway before the 15 September 2025 or the fee can be paid at Registration date.
If employed the cost of the course is €380.
If unemployed the cost of the course is €60.

SFD8 Business, Law & Arts - (Foundation studies Diploma)
