Travelling to Ireland
There are daily direct flights to Ireland from a wide range of cities in the UK, Europe and the US, along with flights from the Emirates. Airports include:
- Dublin Airport c. 2 hours 30 mins by car/bus - View airline/destination information for Dublin
- Shannon Airport c. 1 hour 5 mins by car/bus
- Ireland West Airport c. 1 hour 10 mins by car/bus
Ireland is also accessible via ferry.
Getting to Galway
Galway city is served by an extensive public transport network linking Dublin, Shannon and Knock airports. This includes:
- Regular bus services operated by Citylink (Go Bus) with fully air-conditioned coaches equipped with free Wi-Fi. The motorway from Dublin Airport to Galway City allows for travel time from 2 hours 30 minutes, with direct bus services operating every half hour (Dublin Airport Terminal to Galway City Centre).
- Ireland West and Shannon Airports are currently serviced by Bus Éireann, expanding services to accommodate the growing number of passengers to each airport.
- Irish Rail, offering frequent daily train transfers from Dublin City with travel time from 2 hours 10 minutes.

Insurance
The Conference Organising Committee, or its agents, will not be responsible for any medical expenses, loss, damages or accidents during the Event. We would draw your attention to the cancellation policy in respect of registration fees and accommodation. If, for whatever reason, the Conference has to be cancelled or postponed, the Organising Committee, and/or its agents, will be responsible only for refund of monies received. We recommend that delegates insure themselves for medical and cancellation charges.
Visa Information

Irish Visas are required by delegates travelling from some countries. Please note that a Schengen visa is not valid for travel to Ireland. Travel between Ireland and UK for certain Chinese and Indian nationals, please follow the guidelines of British Irish Visa Scheme (BIVS).
We would encourage all delegates to check with the Irish Government website, their local Irish representation and/or with your travel operator if you require a visa.
If you require a Visa to travel into Ireland, you are advised to register and complete your application as soon as possible. Neither the conference organisers nor Go West Conference and Event Management take any responsibility for your application.
All costs for any visa application are the responsibility of the passport holder.
Note that visa applications can take 6+ weeks for Ireland – please ensure that you apply in time to attend the conference.

Passports
UK citizens do not require a passport or visa to enter Ireland, but most carriers by air or sea require some form of identification with photograph (usually either a passport or drivers licence with photograph). Visitors are advised to check what form of ID is required with the individual airline, tour operator or travel agent before travelling. Visitors from all other countries, including European Union countries, must present their passport to enter Ireland.
Letter of Invitation
Please plan your trip early! Register and pay the registration fees in full and request an invitation letter via the online registration system. Under no circumstances can an invitation letter be issued for those who have not paid their registration fees in full. When you request an invitation letter, you must provide the information at step 4: Additional Information on the online registration system):
1. Your full postal address in English
2. Your name on your passport
3. Your date of birth
4. Your passport number
For those whose abstracts are accepted, please also provide the information of your abstract number and abstract title.
All invitation letters will be sent via email once the information is checked by conference administration. If you do not receive the letter in 2 working days (excluding weekends and public holidays), check your spam mailbox. Otherwise, please feel free to contact conference administration.
It is important to note that it can take time to process a Visa Application and early application is recommended. Please also note that the conference organising committees or their agents cannot accept any responsibility in connection to Visa Applications and the normal cancellation policy for registration fees and accommodation deposits will apply in the event that a delegate is unable to attend due to late submission of their application or rejection of application.
Letter of Invitation for Chinese delegates travelling with a Passport for Public Affairs
If you need to apply for a Passport for Public Affairs, you are required to follow the above registration process. On the registration system step 4: Additional Information , input all the required information and "Passport number: TBA (To be advised)". The Conference Administration will send you the 1st letter of invitation via email for your passport application.
When you have your Passport for Public Affairs, you are required to edit your registration details on the registration system and update your passport number on the system. The Conference Administration will send you the 2nd letter of invitation for visa application.

No Smoking

Time Zone
Ireland is on GMT.
Tipping
Most hotels and restaurants include a service charge of 10-15% to your bill. A small tip is appreciated for good service. Tipping is not usual in pubs. Taxis are tipped 10%.
VAT Refunds

Voltage
Mains electricity is supplied at 220 Volts. The power plug in Ireland is Type G, the same as the British plug and socket system, with 3 rectangular shaped pins. For more, click here
