Research Reviews (IRRP)
What is he Research Reviews (IRRP)?
The Quality Office is responsible for supporting our quality assurance across teaching, research and administration in the University.
Quality reviews of research performance are conducted on a periodic basis. They typically involve an initial process of self-assessment of research performance within Schools benchmarked against international best practice. This self-assessment exercise is followed by a peer evaluation by independent reviewers who then issue recommendations for enhancement.
Reviews have taken place in 2012 and 2016, the outcomes of which have contributed to the ongoing enhancement of the quality of our research activities and output.
Policy and guidelines for IRRP2024 are currently being developed by the IRRP Steering Group (QA004 to be updated).
Steering Group membership:
- Prof Pól Ó Dochartaigh, Deputy President and Registrar (Chair)
- Prof Jim Livesey, Vice-President of Research & Innovation
- Prof Dónal Leech, Dean of Graduate Studies
- Ms Caroline Loughnane, Secretary for Governance and Academic Affairs
- Ms Sinéad O’Connor, Director of Quality
- Ms Claire O’Connor, Director of Planning and Institutional Research
