Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2014 requires all FOI bodies to prepare a publication scheme whereby they make as much information as possible, freely available to the public. It is hoped that the publication of this comprehensive information should pre-empt the need for many FOI request therefore ensuring that that the Public will have easy access to most information whilst also reducing the administrative strain on FOI bodies such as University of Galway. This Publication Scheme must have regard to the principles of openness, transparency and accountability as set out in Sections 8(5) and 11(3) of the Act whilst also ensuring that the publication of the information is not prohibited by law.
