Q. Who do I send my Learning Agreement to?
Your academic coordinator is the "responsible person" who must sign your learning agreement.

University of Galway does not have a deadline for receipt of learning agreements from incoming Erasmus students.
Q. How do I register for modules?
Module / Course Selection: You may only select courses that are available to visiting students in our Visiting Student Booklet (link above)
You will not be permitted to register for courses that are not in the 2024 editions of the Visiting Student Handbook.
Some module restrictions may apply to some areas of study.
When making your selecting modules please note:
- you must only select courses/modules in the subject area in the bilateral agreement under which you are coming to study here (Arts/Humanities, Business Studies, Law, Engineering). If your main area of study is Business or Languages, you will not be permitted to take courses in Engineering or Biochemistry.
Please make your course choices in consultation with your academic coordinator at your home university. Recognition for courses taken and examinations passed at University of Galway during your Erasmus visit will be a matter for your home university.
Course/ Module registration will be done online by students. Instructions on how to register for courses will be provided at our Orientation sessions.
Only students studying Science & Engineering will be registered in advance.
You must ensure that you register online for each course/module that you are taking, failure to do so will result in modules missing from your examination timetable and/or Transcript of Record.

I have a document from my home university that I need to get signed, confirming that I am enrolled for courses at University of Galway. What should I do?
This is your Certificate of Arrival, and you can send it to incomingerasmus@universityofgalway.ie or bring it to us at the specific office hours we'll set aside for this - we'll let you know the times at Orientation.
I can't find a timetable for a module I want to take.
Please check Canvas for up-to-date announcements about class scheduling. You should have access to the Canvas information for each module 24 hours after you register for it. Timetables are available from each School/Discipline directly
Who should sign my learning agreement at University of Galway?
It should be signed by your academic coordinator, and if you don't already know who this is, you can check the list that you'll find in the link below: https://openpress.universityofgalway.ie/visitingstudenthandbook2425sem1/chapter/erasmus-academic-coordinators-2-2/ .
I deleted a course but I'm still seeing it on my registration statement (or on Canvas). What should I do?
Please allow at least 24 hours for changes to be reflected in your registration statement or on Canvas. If you still see the course 48 hours after deleting it, you need to contact the servicedesk@universityofgalway.ie.

Your Learning Agreement, and Registering your Modules
The list of courses available to Erasmus students (the Visiting Student Handbook) can be found on our Courses Available page.
University of Galway does not have a deadline for receipt of learning agreements from incoming Erasmus students. You can only select courses that are available to visiting students. You will not be permitted to register for courses that are not in the 2024 edition of the Visiting Student Handbook. Some courses may have prerequisites (limit) in terms of the number of students that may enrole for them.
When making your choice of courses, please remember that:
- you should only select courses in the subject area that is mentioned in the bilateral agreement which your university has with University of Galway, and under which you are coming to study (Arts/Humanities, Business Studies, Law, Engineering"). If your main area of study is Business or Languages, you will not be permitted to take courses in, for instance, Engineering or Biochemistry.
- you may only select courses that are listed in the Visiting Student Handbook: (The only exception is for those students coming to University of Galway under specific exchanges with our School of Law, who may select additional courses from the Law School's Visiting Student Guide; these courses are not available to any other Erasmus students.)
Please make your course choices in consultation with your academic coordinator at your home university. Recognition for courses taken and examinations passed at University of Galway during your Erasmus visit will be a matter for your home university.
Course (module) registration will be done online by students with the exception of in Science and Engineering. Registering for a course gives you access via Canvas to all course materials and information. You must ensure that you register online for each course that you are taking, if you are not registered correctly courses will not appear on your examination transcript.
Your Erasmus academic coordinator at University of Galway
Note that questions relating to course content, credit weightings, timetables, etc - contact the relevant academic coordinator at University of Galway Erasmus Academic Coordinators. Your academic coordinator is the responsible person who must sign your learning agreement - unless you are an Arts/Humanities student from Malta or Utrecht, or a student from Uppsala in a subject area other than Medicine, in which cases you should contact the University of Galway International Office.
