Paul Michael Garrett admitted as a member of the Irish Royal Academy

Paul Michael Garrett remains a lecturer as the University of Galway where he helped inaugurate the first social work programme in the west of Ireland in 2004. His most recent acclaimed book is Dissenting Social Work: Critical Theory, Resistance and Pandemic (Routledge, 2021). According to the International Journal of Social Welfare, he is ‘probably the most important critical social work theorist in the English-speaking world’.
