Micro-credential Overview
This Micro-credential will help students develop the skills to communicate successfully in various German-speaking business contexts and environments. Students will gain insights into the economy and culture of German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
Start Date: Academic Year 2024/25 - Semester 2
he aim of this Micro-credential is to extend students’ language and intercultural skills to conduct business in a German-speaking work environment and to facilitate an understanding of current economic & business developments in the German-speaking world.
The Micro-credential is designed as an Online module to facilitate the participation of students across Ireland. It will consist of interactive online tutorials held on Zoom as well as asynchronous content that students can complete in their own time across the semester. The teaching method is mainly based on a communicative approach, which focuses on teaching language structures through conversation and exercises. This approach helps students develop productive skills (speaking and writing) as well as receptive skills (reading and listening) in Business-related contexts.
Assessment will be continuous and will take the form of role plays, oral presentations, written assignments, and an aural assessment.
