Prof Frances Fahy (University of Galway), Emily K Gray (PhD candidate at the University of Galway) and Dr Benjamin Schmid (University of Lausanne) organised and chaired the session 'Participatory and Just Energy Transitions' at the Conference of Irish Geographers 2026, held at University College Cork. This two-part session brought researchers from across Ireland together to discuss their research on energy transitions, ranging from community engagement in Ireland's renewable energy development to theories of energy citizenship to participatory methods in energy research.
