Third Year
Information for 3rd Year Students, BA (Joint-honours), Archaeology 2024-2025
In Semester 1 2024/25 students must complete THREE core modules (AR343 'Public Archaeology'; AR338 'Explaining Prehistory – Current Research Trends', and AR3104 'Archaeological post-excavation').
In Semester 2 students are required to complete TWO core modules (AR332 'The Development of the Castle in Medieval Europe' and AR347 'Palaeoecology - reconstructing past environments') and choose one of three option modules (AR325 'Minor Dissertation', AR347 'Palaeoecology – Reconstructing Past Environments' or
BSS2104 'Introduction to Sustainability').
NOTE: THE OPTIONAL MODULE AR325 MINOR DISSERTATION IS ONLY OPEN TO STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED AN OVERALL 2H1 RESULT OR ABOVE IN SECOND YEAR.

Department of Archaeology Guide to Referencing and Citation
- In line with on-going government guidelines and public health advice, most of this year’s teaching will take place on-campus (see 3rd year BA Archaeology handbook 2024-2025), unless otherwise advised.
- Canvas is our primary online interface for teaching and assessment, as well as for announcements. You will also occasionally receive email via Blackboard to your name@universityofgalway.ie email account. You may also email your lecturers and admin staff in the normal fashion.
- The 3rd year BA co-ordinator (2024-2025) is Maggie Ronayne.

Visiting Students
All 3rd year modules are open to Visiting Students, with the exception of AR325 Minor Dissertation.
