Structure and Overview of 4BMU Music
Overview of 4BMU1 Music 2024-25
1. Students take ONE Year-Long Module:
- MU4100 Music Extended Essay (10 ECTS) OR 2. MU4103 Composition Portfolio (10 ECTS)

2. In Semester One, students register for 1 CORE module and choose 1 OPTIONAL module:
CORE:
MU4104 Music History 3 (5 ECTS)
OPTIONAL modules:
1. MU4105 Traditional Irish Music Performance (5 ECTS)
OR
2. MU4107 Opera (5 ECTs)
OR
3. IS3101 Topics in Irish Music Studies (5 ECTS)

3. In Semester Two, students register for 1 CORE module and choose 1 OPTIONAL module:
CORE:
MU4102 Writing about Music: Performance Analysis (5 ECTS)
OPTIONAL modules:

Final Year Music Timetable 2024-25
***All lectures for Final Year Music, Semester 1 will begin on Monday, 9th September 2024***
** MU4103 Composition Portfolio Week 1–Week 7 and after that small groups in Amanda’s Office**
** MU4100 – Week 12 move to McKenna – One tutorial to take place per week and will be confirmed at the start of term

Please remember that 4th Year Students 24/25 remain in Group 3 for Arts
Registration Information 2024-25
- Online Registration for returning Final Year Undergraduate students opens on Monday, 19th August 2024 and will close on 20th September.
- The Registration process is administered by the Registration Office, not by the Discipline of Music. Should you have any difficulties, please contact registration@universityofgalway.ie in the first instance.
- It is VERY IMPORTANT to click on CONFIRM SELECTION and FINISH at the very end of the registration process in order to lock in all the modules for which you wish to register
