Meet the CDP-CDP consortium
Professor John Browne
Professor John Browne is a senior health researcher at UCC, and is co-director for the HRB SPHeRE Programme.
Professor John Browne is a health services researcher interested in ways to improve the quality and safety of healthcare. After completing his PhD at Trinity College Dublin he worked at the Health Services Research Unit of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) from 1998 to 2008, where he oversaw the development of the NHS Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) programme and the acute care clinical guidelines programme for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. He was also the Principal Investigator on the Health Research Board funded 'SIREN' programme (Study of the Implementation of Reconfiguration on Urgent and Emergency Care Networks). http://www.ucc.ie/en/siren/. He continues to hold an Honorary Professorship at LSHTM and is a Senior Editor at BMJ Quality & Safety.
He will bring expertise in the provision of structured training in health services research and population health research to the CDP-CDP Executive Programme Advisory Board. Professor Browne has insight into how SPHeRE meshes with Collaborative Doctoral Award (CDA) programmes from the inclusion of two previous CDA cohorts on SPHeRE. He will be responsible for liaison between the CDP-CDP consortium and the SPHeRE secretariat. He will also provide general expertise on the development and implementation of structured PhD training.
