Based in Washington D.C, Anne Marie McKiernan was appointed by Ireland’s Minister for Finance as Ireland’s Board Member at the World Bank Group, since September 2020, where her role is to oversee the implementation of Ireland’s development and financial policy. Prior to that, she served as Alternate Executive Director for Ireland, Canada & Caribbean in the IMF, from 2017, also a Ministerial appointment.
Before moving to Washington, Ms. McKiernan worked in a variety of roles in the Central Bank of Ireland – including as the Governor’s Special Advisor on International Affairs, as Financial Regulator for credit unions, as the Bank’s Chief Risk Officer and as Head of Implementation of the IMF-ECB-EC (“Troika) Program for Ireland 2011-2014.
Prior to the Central Bank of Ireland, she worked for the British Government and IMF in Southern Africa, London and Washington DC. She has extensive experience in Business & Economics lecturing, having lectured at the Smurfit Business School for over a decade & also visiting lecturer in Trinity & University of Limerick. She holds degrees in Economics, Maths & Finance, a Masters in Economic Science & is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors since 2018.
