Annual Free WEEE Recycling Day
Staff and students can avail of a free WEEE Recycling Day on Thursday 31st October 2024. WEEE Ireland will have a lorry based in the Orbsen Car Park from 10.00am to 4pm on that day. Goods can be brought to the lorry where they will be unloaded for you. If any building has a large amount of electrical waste please let us know and we can arrange for this to be collected from your building on the day.
We have also allocated a drop off point located across from Áras Uí Chathail (see photo below). For those who cannot attend on the 31st October – please email lorraine.rushe@universityofgalway.ie to arrange.
Listed below are the items suitable for recycling.
- Kitchen Items: Microwaves, kettles and toasters, grills, deep fat fryers, irons, steamers etc.
- Consumer items: IT equipment, power tools, battery operated toys, electric blankets, cables, laptops, iPods, ear phones, hair dryers etc.
- Large household items: Dishwasher, fridges and freezers, washing machines, cookers, dryers etc.
- Televisions: TVs & aerials, computer monitors
- All waste batteries
- CFL and fluorescent tube bulbs
