Workshop: Religion on the ethnic frontier - 29th April 2025

Dr. Nazife Kosukoglu and Dr. Joel Hanisek will take part in a workshop “Religion on the Ethnic Frontier”, on 29th April, from 9am - 5pm in THB-G010, at the University of Galway.
Nazife will present a paper titled "Forum Shopping in a Fragmenting Empire: Non-Muslim Recourse to Sharia Courts in the 19th-Century Balkans".
Joel will present a paper titled "Religion on the ethnic and ethical frontiers of women’s education in early 20th century Iran".
The workshop is organised by The Centre for the Study of Religion (CSR) and The Centre for the Investigation of Transnational Encounters (CITE), at the University of Galway.
