At NUI Galway, the ranks of honorary conferees include, among many others, Nelson Mandela, Hilary Clinton, Professor Edward Said, Enya, Anjelica Huston and Fionnula Flanagan. Ever year a select number of outstanding individuals join this illustrious list.
The Honorary Conferring ceremony took place on Friday, 29 June in the Bailey Allen Hall.

The Honourable James Flaherty PC, MP will be conferred with a Degree of Doctor of Laws (honoris causa). Minister Flaherty is third-term Member of Parliament for Whitby–Oshawa (Ontario). He serves as Canada’s Minister of Finance and Minister Responsible for the Greater Toronto Area. He is a Governor of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
