Galway has a larger international community than any other city in Ireland, according to the most recent census (Ref: CSO).‌

NUI Galway is home to almost 4,000 International Students, from 110 different countries, making us the most international university in Ireland. Our international focus is inspired by our location in Galway, a diverse city with a tradition of reaching out to the world. We are proud of the diversity of our campus community, as well as our partnerships with universities, businesses and organisations across the world. We are committed to even greater internationalisation to ensure that our teaching and research has a global impact.

We have student exchange programmes with over 200 international universities around the world, and also have a global community of staff. 35% are from overseas, coming from 45 countries worldwide.

Five outstanding researchers at NUI Galway have been ranked among the 'World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds: 2019' according to Clarivate Analytics.
