Ger is a seasoned technical officer in the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, supporting targeted small‑molecule analysis and contributing his expertise to the facility’s growth as it incorporates advanced instrumentation for multi‑omics research.

He brings over two decades of experience as a Senior Technical Officer in chemistry, collaborating with research teams across diverse disciplines while also providing guidance and management in undergraduate laboratories. Ger’s broad, cross‑disciplinary background has equipped him with a deep, practice‑based understanding of chemistry, with strength in chromatographic separation science across both gas and liquid platforms, as well as the collaborative capability needed to support the diverse analytical demands of the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility.

Ger holds an MSc in Organic Chemistry (2004), which sparked his interest in a wide range of analytical techniques. Over the years, he has gained broad experience across multiple instrumentation platforms, ultimately focusing on Mass Spectrometry. In this role, he oversaw the facility within the Chemistry pathway, developing expertise in facility management, training and mentoring new users, streamlining workflows, and maintaining and repairing a wide range of instruments.

Outside of work, Ger enjoys reading, playing golf, going to the gym, and spending time with his family.
