Statistical design is crucial for ensuring that a clinical study is well-planned, scientifically rigorous, and capable of providing valid and reliable results. It involves choosing the right study design, calculating sample sizes, selecting appropriate statistical methods, and planning how data will be collected and analysed. Effective statistical design helps in making informed decisions based on the study’s findings and contributes to the advancement of medical knowledge.

The Biostatistics Unit in the HRB CRFG provides statistical support to numerous clinical and translational researchers.  Researchers at the Biostatistics Unit also collaborate with and support principal investigators from several research groups at the University of Galway in preparation of grant applications, study design, sample size calculations and statistical analysis.
