Director of Student Services
As Director John Hannons role is to provide leadership in the integration of the student services functions and for the provision of high quality and comprehensive non-academic support and wellbeing services for students. Key responsibilities include organisational leadership and management, student engagement, student wellbeing, support and development, and external relationships. The Director works with the Dean of Students to ensure appropriate working partnerships are in place with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders.
John has worked for over twenty-five years in higher education, including roles in academic and student support and Head of the Career Development Centre. He is former Chair of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services in Ireland and serves on the Executive of Student Affairs Ireland.
John studied in University of Galway (BA and HDE), UCD (DCG), University of Warwick (MA CEIGHE) and IMI / UCC (Professional Diploma in Executive Coaching).
The functions that come under Student Services include the Access Centre, Student Support and Advisory (Accommodation Advisory Service, Financial Aid Fund, Student Support Officers and Student Enquiry Centre), the Career Development Centre, Chaplaincy, Student Counselling, Student Societies and Student Engagement.
