Galway Sports Partnership was established in October 2012 as a result of a merger between County Galway Local Sports Partnership and Galway City Sports Partnership. Both of these entities were originally established in 2008.
Galway Sports Partnerships (GSP) is governed by a Steering Group. The Steering group is made up of a number of statutory agencies, community organisations and sporting representatives who have a role or interest in the area of participation in sport and physical activity. The membership of this Steering Group now reflects the changing landscape in so far as the community and voluntary sector is concerned, in that there are now 6 members elected from the Public Participation Network (PPN) – 3 representatives from Galway City and 3 from Galway County.
Galway Sports Partnership receives both strategic and policy guidance from Sport Ireland.
Galway Sports Partnership (GSP) is hosted by Galway Co. Co. and operates out of the Local Authority offices in Liosbaun Estate on the Tuam Road in Galway. We also maintain an office in Galway City Council offices, College Rd, Galway. GSP has three employees and all three positions are fully funded annually by the Sport Ireland.
