Hasmik holds a BA (International Relations), a Master’s Degree in Politics and Society and a Ph.D. in Political Science. Hasmik’s PhD research explored the factors that may have an effect on rewards of regional governors in competitive authoritarian and democratising states. Her research examined the role of economic and political determinants, such as economic performance, electoral returns, prime ministerial patronage and coalition governance, on the turnover of governors in Armenia. The thesis makes a theoretical and empirical contribution to the existing literature about survival of regional governors, regional governance and public policy, dominant parties and coalition governance. Hasmik is currently a postdoctoral researcher in SEMRU. Her research explores gender balance and status of females in the sectors of the blue economy in the European Union.
