Science without Borders funded PhD scholar

Raissa HoganRaissa gained a Science without Borders PhD scholarship from the Brazilian government to join the Deep-sea Biology and Cephalopods group.  Her project is focused on sea pens.  Raissa has joined numerous cruises to Irish deep-sea and has amassed a fine collection of samples.  She is using the Cnidarian barcode gene MutS to delimit species, and also studying the evolution of the group using whole mitochondrial genomes derived from Illumina sequencing.
