Kathryn Schoenrock
Postdoctoral researcher
My primary research focus is the ecology and physiology of cold water seaweeds and their response to changes within their environment. I use novel and interdisciplinary techniques to answer questions about the 1) how seaweeds structure and influence biodiversity of marine habitats, 2) the genetic diversity and physiological characteristics that underpin seaweed resilience in the face of environmental change, 3) how seaweeds interact with microorganisms in these habitats (the microbiome), and 4) what this means for future marine communities in a high CO2 climate. These research lines can be applied to marine systems worldwide.
