Cesar Santana
Irish Research Council-funded PhD scholar
Cesar started his PhD in Zoology in October 2016 as a NUIG College of Science scholarship holder and he then won Irish Research Council funding, beginning in October 2017. His research is on Nephrops norvegicus (Dublin Bay prawn) including feeding ecology and density-dependent effects on Nephrops population ecology. Recently, Cesar has joined RV Celtic Voyager as a member of the underwater television survey team for Nephrops stock assessment and began studying population density effects on Nephrops maturity in Irish grounds. He hopes that this study is just the starting point of a wider project that encompasses other grounds across the range of this species.
