Application Process
Application and selection process
The call for applications opens on February 1st 2023 for 6 weeks. There will be no application fee.
To be eligible applicants must:
- Be a refugee currently residing in Nigeria
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject. There is no limit on the year of graduation. A Higher National Diploma (HND) is not an eligible qualification.
- Have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.4/5.0 or Lower Second-Class degree according to the Nigerian grading system, or 3.3/4.0 according to the Cameroonian grading system, or equivalent.
- Be fluent in English and have completed either Bachelors degree or secondary schooling in English, demonstrated by qualifications.
- Work experience will be considered in addition to academic background.
The selection process will be carried out by University of Galway with applications to be assessed by a panel of experts. Selection will consider the academic record of the applicant (via copy of transcripts), their curriculum vitae, sections on motivation and interests in the application form outlining the students’ achievements and future career aspirations in Science and Engineering, as well as the availability of a suitable host research group. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview.
